Toddler and Child Sessions
”Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.” ~John W. Whitehead
The presence of toddlers is one of the great blessings in life. Their energy, their innocence, their wonder–it doesn’t get any better than this. They drive us crazy with “why’s?” and “how come’s?” They exhaust us with tantrums and fits that seem to last forever. But then they smile or whisper, “I love you, Mommy,” and it’s all worth it. So worth it.
They get bigger, but they still melt our hearts. Every stage makes us nearly burst with pride, all the while filling us with a quiet sadness. They are growing up.
My favorite child sessions are capturing what they already do best–laughing, playing, running, and yes, sometimes even crying. Lifestyle portraits capture your little one as he or she is. Does he want to bring his favorite train? Not a problem. Does she insist on wearing the pink tutu and green bow? We’ll capture her like that. We can always try for a more “classic” shot too, but it’s important to remember them as they really are.
Toddlers and children often don’t do well with too many clothing changes. But, of course, you know your child best. If dress-up is her favorite game, we may be able to try 3-5 different outfits. Many toddlers, though, fall apart after the first change. Bring as many options as you like, and we can see what your little one is up for.
Allow 30-60 minutes for your session. Sessions can take place in studio, outdoors, or in your home.
