Amy here…so much good stuff to come. Please stay tuned for a newborn and wedding sneak peek coming in the next few days. For now, Gabby has put together an excellent what to wear. Check it out below:
Many people often come to us asking for suggestions about what their family should wear for their family photo shoot. We always say that it is a good idea to coordinate the outfits but to steer away from completely matching. When creating the ‘What to Wear’ posts, I usually pick a color or two and then find items and outfits that accent each other well.
The colors in this skirt are playful and lovely. For a relaxed look you can pair it with a sweater and sandals. With this outfit, mom can be comfortable and trendy. :)
This super cute dress is also a good option for a mom. It is versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down. Make it playful by replacing the blue sash with a bright pink belt. Also add a wood bracelet to complete the look. Another way to go is to dress it up with heels and metal bangles. The breezy make of the dress is still fun and is balanced out with the sophisticated accessories.
I realize that you can only dress up a little boy to a certain point. I think I have a good start here with two outfits that he won’t discard right away. The cargo shorts are already a part of his everyday attire so getting him into the plaid shirt should be the only semi challenging part of this experience.

This first outfit for the dad subtlety ties in the purple from the mom’s skirt from above. We’re coordinating, but thank goodness we’re not matching!
If the mom decides to wear the blue sweater with the skirt or if she decides to wear a colorful dress, i would suggest that the dad stick with jeans and a brown shirt to tie in the calmer side of the family. The brown shirt will make hidden accessories stand out and serve as a very important part of making the portrait complete.
A little girl is so much easier to imagine outfits for. All of these outfits go perfectly with the flow that was demonstrated with the rest of the family. With these shirts and shorts it is simple to mix and match them to create the look you want. I have a feeling that the dress and the sparkly shoes might just be the favorite.
All of these amazing styles can be easily found at http://www.oldnavy.com. I hope they help you when planning your next family session!
Cheers :)

I am approaching my senior year of high school and am beginning to consider what i want to wear for my senior photos… decisions decisions. This post is packed full with ideas for senior girls that need some inspiration for their session. I must say, I think this may be my favorite post yet! I’m speaking as a third party outsider with really no personal interest in the matter, of course.
All of these fabulous vintage pieces can be found at www.modcloth.com=) Ladies, you should definitely check out this awesome site!
Let’s just begin by saying that the electrical zappage of these violet tights allows for them to pretty much speak for themselves.. I recommend combining them with the designed shorts and the calm top for a balanced look. This outfit is captivating and bright and will compliment an outgoing girl’s personality ever so perfectly. = )
This sweetheart dress will show off your more delicate side. The lace top and the soft pink flats illustrate the genetic innocence that we ladies inherit. For a harsher look, one idea is to wear this outfit as part of an outdoor session. This allows for a more dramatic scenery to offset this calmer image.
This paint splattered skirt paired with this bright yellow tank creates an incredible eye popping contrast. Together they create an edgy look that will show you off as a strong individual. Rock it with some high top sneakers or primp it with heels. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
This dress is extremely fun and wild! The texture of the design and the burst of red from the belt are a dynamic duo. To make it more interesting throw on an over sized pair of funky glasses. This adds some quirkiness to the outfit without being costume-y.
Back to a sweeter look, the colors of this skirt and blouse seem to have been made for each other. The smooth breezy look of this outfit is perfect for you girlie gals out there! Add these charming red flats and you’re all set to go.
This is an example of how I like to take something super plain and jazz it up. A simple purple tank top doesn’t seem worthy enough to make the cut for your senior pictures, right? Wrong. The uniqueness of the scarf and the detail of the shoes bring the outfit to life. Take something of yours that you think is boring and accessorize! The end product will shock you.
It is always a good idea to play around with color. The blue shoe and the blue bow may not be able to stand alone.. So pair them together so they can work as a team! They accent each other perfectly against the candy apple red tank top. This is a good outfit to use props with. Let your personality shine with your trophies, instrument, or something you love.
A classy black dress… *sigh* I personally can imagine venturing outdoors in this dress in the simplicity of bare feet. An umbrella would help to inspire sweet poses. I recommend a colored umbrella so you stay away from the “Mary Poppins” look. =P
So this feather pin caught my eye. I tagged it onto the end of this because i just couldn’t leave it out. Use it to accessorize or spice up an outfit. Use your imagination!
I hope this helps you in the frustrating decision process of choosing outfits for your senior portrait session!
Peace ladies. =)

I am thrilled to introduce you to a store I recently discovered. It’s fun. It’s trendy. Best of all it sells all fair trade items. Have you heard of Revive? I can’t tell you how impressed I was with their concept and store. Just amazing.
Their website states: “Fair trade offers a sustainable alternative to buying sweat-shop made goods. Fair trade is an organized social movement promoting standards for international labour, environmentalism, and social policy in the production of Fair Trade goods.” As consumers we have choices and I am so happy to find a choice in the Cleveland area that doesn’t support child labor or abuse of workers in other countries.
I selected three outfits that I thought would make just great engagement session options. I hope you’ll agree.

I had contacted Revive a couple weeks back to request permission to use their images. I was so surprised when I showed up at the Janie and Jack shoots last week because Revive was just across the street. I was delighted to go over and see the store for myself and meet the manager. I plan to share “what to wears” featuring Revive a few times a year. Look forward to more great stuff! {And stop by Revive and check it out for yourself.}

Hello all! Contrary to the last “What to Wear?” post, this time I’m focusing on a calmer look. I found these awesome styles at http://www.gap.com/. These neutral colors are simple and easy to coordinate. I hope these ideas help inspire your family.
{All images will link to gap.com for online purchasing. All images are copyrighted by gap.com.}
The combination of the tough jacket and slender jeans creates a modern look that is pretty and practical. (=
This sweater paired with the “cadet khaki” pants is a great simple look. Tie in the green jacket if you want a more layered feel.
These green Capri’s matched with a cute sweater shows a softer side of the army theme for a little girl . Also, these leather sandals complete the comfy and stylish outfit. (=
Outfit number two for a little girl is a little less sweet and has a slight edge to it. The interesting design on the bermuda shorts will stand out with the plain tee and will go perfectly with these slip on converse.
These aviator pants are perfect for a little boy. Choose a shade of gray for the shirt and you’re done! It’s that simple!
Another way to go could be tan pants and navy blue or green shirts to tie in with the rest of the family. =)
I hope you like my ideas!
Peace.

You may have heard me talk about Gabby. She is the super fun girl that helps us at the studio. Here’s some pictures of our favorite intern. (She’s wearing the blue dress.) Cute, huh?
Gabby has agreed to write up a fun feature a couple times a month–”Gabby’s Corner–What to Wear?” She says she has no fashion sense…but I think you’ll see she’s wrong.
This is the first installment of “What to Wear?” Enjoy. (Oh…and comment and tell her you like the picks.)
This blog’s inspiration is turquoise. This week I’ve put my focus on ideas for a session for a family of four. All of these items can be found at Target.com. Click on the item photo for the link to buy.
A bright shirt combined with dark wash jeans are perfect for a rowdy boy. The white sneakers tie in the design from the shirt giving it that complete look.

This cute look seems perfect for a sweet little girl. For me, this dress symbolizes carefree youth. =)
This sweater offers a more sophisticated look. While it’s professional it is still modern and cool.
The classic black dress pretty much speaks for itself, don’t you think? Dress it up with your choice of a bold scarf or elegant earrings. The colors tie in with the rest of the family creating a fresh and coordinated look. =)
