The Story of Heritage

“About twelve years ago on a Sunday morning I started drawing up a plan for my own business that would allow me to stay home in the evenings and do what I love to do … meeting people. It was on that Sunday morning that Heritage Studio and Gallery was conceived.

So if you have a spare moment please stop by and share your story with us.  If we’re lucky your story will become part of our story.” –Dave

Here are the original plans that Dave drew up for the studio over ten years ago. This was before he had a space, before he had a definite plan nailed down, and before he had teamed up with Amy. Somehow the plan nearly matches the space they have today...including the square footage and placement of many of the walls. Definitely a dream come true.

Dave and Amy knew each other from Amy’s childhood.  Both Dave and his wife Cheryl were friends with Amy’s parents.  Over time everyone lost touch but both Amy and Dave were working in photography on their own.

When their paths crossed again.  When they both realized the other was in the same business, they decided to work together some.  Dave didn’t have a website or anyone to do album design.  Amy’s new daughter was now sleeping in what was once the studio.  They began trading work and bartering.  It was all working so well that they soon decided to partner up and became what is now known as Heritage Studio and Gallery.

Since then, they have expanded to incorportate the gallery and frame shop.  Dave handles all of the custom framing and can be found most days in the shop chopping moulding and assembling frames.  Amy manages the photography studio–taking care of the editing, retouching and most of the scheduling.  She works from home many days so that she can be with her children, but can almost always be found in the studio on Tuesday and Saturdays.  Both Dave and Amy photograph sessions and they work together on almost every wedding.

“We have poured so much into this studio and are excited to watch it grow. Both Dave and I feel that are business has been blessed in so many ways. Every time we have had a need of any type, God has provided–from an incredible space that is very affordable, to people ready and waiting to help, to supplies and equipment that seem to fall into our laps.” –Amy
